Darkside

Build volume on one venue market with no hedge. Darkside quotes both sides from your own venue account and runs on ProFunding's servers.

Darkside builds trading volume on one market of one venue. It rests post-only quotes on both sides of the book from your own venue account, holds whatever fills until an exit closes it, and keeps running on ProFunding's servers after you close the tab. You set the margin, the leverage and a stop loss in dollars. The page shows what the volume costs you per $1M.

Use it when you want volume on Entropy, TxFlow, QFEX or RISEx without funding a second venue. There is no hedge, so what the session holds gains or loses with the price until it closes. Farming is the hedged alternative: it holds an opposite position on a second venue so price moves mostly cancel.

Open Darkside from the top navigation on any page.

How a session trades

  1. It quotes both sides. The session rests a buy and a sell at the top of the book. Both are post-only, so they fill only as maker (a resting order that someone else trades against).
  2. It holds what fills. A filled quote becomes a position with no hedge, and the session rests an exit order at maker to close it.
  3. It stops itself. The session runs until you stop it or the run loses its stop loss. Closing the tab doesn't stop it.
  4. It costs per $1M. The cost of the volume is the fees plus what the price did while the session held a position.

Toxic hours are the window around the US open, when fills tend to cost the most. You can choose to open no new positions inside it (exits keep working).

Entropy is a HIP-3 market on Hyperliquid: it trades from your Hyperliquid account. QFEX SNDK follows the stock's trading week and pauses over the weekend. Each venue takes a limited number of sessions at once; a full venue shows Full, and one not open yet shows Soon.

Before you start

  • Sign in to ProFunding with a wallet.
  • Connect the venue from that wallet. Darkside trades with no browser open, so it uses the venue key saved, encrypted, to your ProFunding account. See Wallets and keys.
  • Have free collateral on the venue of at least the margin, plus the stop loss, plus a 5% reserve.
  • Have no position and no open orders on that market, on that venue account.

Connect and fund a venue

Pick the venue's lane in the Venues tab and click its connect button (for example Connect QFEX). A sheet walks you through the steps for that venue:

VenueWhat connecting takes
EntropyThe Hyperliquid login: connect your wallet, add funds if the account is empty, authorize a trading agent. Then approve ProFunding's builder fee, or confirm you opened the account through ProFunding's referral link
TxFlowAn account opened on TxFlow's site through ProFunding's link, with this same wallet. Deposit USDC on Arbitrum, then approve the trading key with one signature
QFEXAn API key from qfex.com (profile, Developer Settings). Grant Execute orders and the View scopes, leave Deposit and withdraw off, and paste the public and secret keys
RISExAn account on rise.trade. Then connect your wallet, authorize an API wallet and register the signer. No keys to paste

A builder fee is a per-fill fee a venue lets an app add to the orders it routes. When the sheet asks you to approve one, it shows the rate before you sign.

Click Add beside your free balance to deposit. The sheet shows what arrives and the fee before you sign.

VenueDepositMinimum
EntropyUSDC already on Hyperliquid moves in with one signature. An empty account can bridge USDC or USDT from Arbitrum, Base, Ethereum, Optimism, Polygon or BNB Chain$5
TxFlowUSDC on Arbitrum to the account's wallet. Other assets are bridged there first$5
QFEXUSDC on Arbitrum One to your QFEX deposit address, which you paste once from qfex.com$5
RISExUSDC.e on RISE, or USDC from another chain$1 on RISE, $20 from another chain

TxFlow and RISEx can also be funded from your other connected venues. See Funding and transfers.

Set up and start a session

FieldWhat it does
MarketPicks the market on a venue with more than one (Entropy: SNDK or ANTHROPIC)
MarginThe collateral the session trades on, in dollars
Leverage1× to 5×, plus the market's max
SizeAbout how much each order is, and the most the session can hold at once
Stop lossOpens the Mandate sheet: the stop loss and the toxic-hours choice

The smallest margin is the one whose order clears the venue's minimum order size at today's price. Higher leverage makes each order larger and lowers the smallest margin.

The stop loss is a dollar amount covering the whole run, from Start to Stop, with presets of 10%, 20% and 50% of the margin. It must be more than $0 and at most the margin. Collateral needed is the margin plus the stop loss plus a 5% reserve for the final close-out: a $500 margin with a $50 stop loss needs $575 free.

Before you start, the big number reads Expected $X per $1M. It is an estimate from a nightly replay of the past day of that market, not a result. With too little data it reads "not measured yet".

Click Start (for example Start on Entropy). If something is missing, the reason shows under the button: the venue isn't connected, the margin is under the minimum, the stop loss is out of range, or there isn't enough free collateral (with a Deposit link). The venue can also refuse a Start, for example when the account already holds a position or orders on that market.

Watch a running session

ItemWhat it shows
This sessionVolume of the current session and how long it has run
Spent or EarnedThe result after fees, with any open position valued at the mid price
Per $1MCost per $1M of volume so far
Stop leftHow much more the run can lose before the stop loss. Amber under 25%
Holding, unhedgedLong, short or flat, with the position in dollars

The status line says what the session is doing: quoting at the touch, exit resting at maker, toxic hours (no new entries until a time), entries paused for market conditions, or the venue not answering. Pauses end on their own.

The Tape tab lists your recent fills: time, market, BUY, SELL or EXIT, notional, price, and maker or taker. The Sessions tab lists ended sessions with volume, spent and cost per $1M. Click a row for its fees, price moves, fill count and maker share.

Endings and pauses

  • Daily rollover: at 00:00 UTC the session stops entering, closes what it holds and starts a new session straight away. The run and its stop loss carry on.
  • QFEX weekend: shortly before the Friday close the session closes out, waits, and starts again at the reopen.
  • Stop loss: once the run has lost its stop loss, the session closes what it holds at market and stops. It doesn't restart until you click Start.
  • Someone else trades the market: if the venue shows orders or a position on that market that the session didn't place, it stops. It closes only its own position. Don't trade that market by hand from the same account while a session runs.
  • Server restart: the session pauses and resumes on its own.

Stop a session

Click Stop the session, then Confirm: close and stop within 6 seconds. The session cancels its quotes and closes what it holds at market. On Entropy you can move a running bot from SNDK to ANTHROPIC (or back) with Switch: it closes the first market, then starts the second.

Several wallets

Each wallet you connect on a venue is its own venue account with its own bot. A wallet runs one bot per venue, and bots on different venues run side by side. Two of your wallets can't run the same market at once, so your wallets never trade with each other. Add one with + Add a wallet under the Wallet picker.

How the money is counted

FigureHow it is worked out
VolumeThe notional of every fill, entries and exits, counted once the position is back to flat
Spent or EarnedEverything bought and sold, minus fees, with any open position at the mid price
Cost per $1MMinus the result, divided by the volume, times 1,000,000
FeesEach fill's fee as the venue charged it, including any builder fee. A fee the venue didn't report is priced from its fee schedule and marked estimated

A session that spent $120 on $800,000 of volume cost $150 per $1M.

Funding isn't in these figures. While a session holds a position, the venue charges or pays funding on it at each settlement. That shows in your venue balance, not in Spent or Per $1M.

Resting fills pay the venue's maker fee. Stop, a switch and the stop loss close at market and pay the taker fee.

Risks

  • No hedge: the position moves with the price until it closes. The Mandate sheet shows how much is held at once and what a 2% move on it would cost.
  • The stop loss closes at market, so the final fill can land past it. The 5% reserve is there for that close-out.
  • While the venue isn't answering, the stop loss can't act.
  • Put in only what you can lose. A session can lose more than it saves on fees.

If your wallet is linked to the Telegram bot, a session that ends sends you a message with the venue, the reason, the volume and the result.

Share a session

Open a session from the Sessions tab to get its share card: the volume in large type, the market and run time, and the cost per $1M. Share on X downloads the image and opens a draft post; Copy and Download PNG are there too. If you have a ProFunding referral code, a Referral link toggle adds your link. See Affiliate program.

FAQ

How is Darkside different from Farming?

Darkside quotes both sides of one market on one venue with no hedge, so what it holds gains or loses with the price until it closes. Farming holds an opposite position on a second venue so price moves mostly cancel.

How much collateral does a Darkside session need?

The margin, plus the stop loss, plus a 5% reserve for the final close-out. A $500 margin with a $50 stop loss needs $575 free on the venue.

Is funding included in Spent and Per $1M?

No. While a session holds a position the venue charges or pays funding on it at each settlement, and that shows in your venue balance, not in Spent or Per $1M.
